I have a Jamieson hollowing system that I acquired used.  I haven't used it for a while and am trying to remember how the secondary tool rest (that the stabilizer bar goes through) hooks to the lathe bed?  Can anyone who has a similar system either take a picture or describe how this should attach.  I only have a flat plate that the vertical bar of the stabilizer bar fits into.  That plate must sit on the top of the rails but I do not see what secures it to the rails.  Not sure what else I'm looking for.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is a DIY copy of Lyle’s. Note the plate that is at the left. It goes under the ways of your lathe and secures the secondary rest.

Jenny, you might find what your looking to see, on a You-tube vid. You-tube and Google and Wikipedia, are the places I go to if I'm trying to find something out.

Jenny

I also have his system that Lyle gave me and he also gave me both of his DVDs and how to use it.  You can go on YouTube and put his name at the top and he will come up with a lot of his Videos and even him showing how to use the system.

If you do not know how to use Youtube I can lend you my DVDs and he told me it is OK since I teach a lot of disabled vets like me how to turn.  Just send me a PM with your mailing address.

If you are close to him I would highly encourage you to take a class with him.  I was lucky and he came to my house 3 times to teach me and to set up my grinding system which I did not do right or even get close or should say I was 1.5" away from center.   Cheesy
