Just used mine to make a router patter for the jig that holds stuff that needs to be "routered" like the slot in a yarn bowl. Jig and scroll saw worked perfectly.

This will sound cliche but it's only limited by your imagination.
Router patterns
Inlay
embellishment

Ed... how do you get the bowl into the scrollsaw? Shocked

Flatwork is pretty much all that a scrollsaw can work on.

Funny about this topic...

An artist is making hand made books using large scallop shells for the front cover and wanted cutouts to match for the back cover.

I decided that it was a good enough reason to buy another toy!!

She traced the shells and I spray glued that onto 8 ply mat board and then cut them out with my new Grizzly scrollsaw.

A dozen cutouts and  a quick $50 bucks. Thumbs Up

As an example only,
do a google image search for "wood turned angel ornament"
A scroll saw can come in quite handy with this and other types of work

In 3 years I have only used the scrollsaw in turning for the tops of  Potpourri bowl.
I actually cut a set of gum leaves in a Jacaranda piece.
I liked it, nobody else seemed bothered.

RBI is a nice saw. Be warned that scroll sawing can be as addictive as turning. Actually, I think if I had had a better scroll saw, I might not be turning.

Years ago, i made a jig saw puzzle for a friend's father who loved to do them.

I made it a bit harder for him tho... I took a piece of 1/4" luan ply and painted BOTH sides blue and then as I was cutting the pieces, I cut the corners in half so there was no way to "start at the corners".

It took him a while to figure out that the sides of the ply took the paint a bit differently so once you caught onto that, you could at least get them all the same side up!!

He said he enjoyed it but to never do that to him again! Smiley Smiley
