Pyrography Texturing
Nov 14th, 2018 at 10:23am

At some point I want to have a go at texturing a project with a Pyrography machine. The pattern I want to try first uses a wire coil. You can of course buy these ready made but making them yourself is obviously cheaper. Making the fine wire ones is not too tricky, you can do this by hand on a suitable size drill bit but its not so easy with thicker wire so Ive just bought one of these and it works very well. Its much quicker, easier and neater than doing it by hand. The tool only cost a few pounds.

Interesting tool.

In the past I would coil nichrome wire around a bolt.

Ive got both sizes now, the 2mm and the 2.5mm and they work great for such an inexpensive little gizmo. The thickest wire Ive tried is .9mm or 20swg and I dont think youd easily use anything any thicker.
