I have been working on this one for a while.  Am undecided if i am finished or if i should add more color.  I haven't put a finish polly coat on it yet.

Looking good, nice job. It looks good like it is but nothing wrong with adding more colour to it either. It's up to you. Thumbs Up

Thanks i will probably just call this one done clean up some of the lines and poly it.  Next one is more ambitious an 18 inch platter with 82 rings and 200 spokes.  Thats 16,400 lines to burn ouch.

Chris,

Well done! I don't see where adding any additional color would enhance what you've already done.

Sometimes, less is more.

Chris,

Are you using the jig / alignment tool that Craig sells at Chefwarekits.com?

No i use the method Harvey Meyer outlines in his videos on how to make one.  I took a piece of polar graph paper with the appropriate amount of lines and glued it to a piece of 1/8 inch plywood.  Cut it out and drilled a 1 1/4 inch hole for my spindle and sandwiched it behind my chuck.  For the index part i cut a 3 inch x long enough piece of 1/8 inch plywood to reach the center of my spindle and screwed it to a 3x3 piece of 3/4 inch plywood at a 90 degree angle.  I recessed a couple strong magnets on the bottom of the 3/4 plywood to hold it to my bed.  Then just use a spring clamp to hold the index to the wheel.

I really like the burner holder and table setup that Craig has in his kit.  He uses this to take out steps in the process - making it rather quick... compared to the coloring process Smiley

I would not add more color unless you have a plan that makes the added color part of the original design.  I am working on my 3rd illusion this winter, did several more last winter.  I would not use poly for a finish, rather use a flat spray lacquer or acrylic. A real  basket would not be shiny.  GOOD JOB!

Really amazing!!! Smiley Smiley

Now... just my 2¢...if you ARE thinking of adding more color, how about repeating that reddish color at the very top row.

I had signed up for a class by Harvey at the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship in Rockport, Me. last year but he messed up his shoulder and had to cancel. Bummer!! Cry
