With the more modern M42 HSS and the V 10 (D Way and Thompson), it is more difficult to burnish a burr using the standard burnishing tools that are used on the card scrapers. A small carbide bit dose a good job of burnishing. The first one I made I used a small carbide drill bit. With the more standard burnishing tools, I got a better burr by using the triangle burnisher than I did with the round burnisher.
