Just curious what some of you think about the content. Much of it is in conjunction with AAW
I have reservations about some of the in the articles.
Yes I know they are written by "professionals", they also get things wrong from time to time. If not wrong, at least open for criticism, theirs is not the only or best way to accomplish a task.

Example (there are many others)
A Pro’s Guide to Turning a Simple Bowl;
The author uses 4 different bowl gouges, a spear point tool and a scraper. I'm not sure how "simple" that is.

I have turned maybe a 1000 bowls and have not used nor do I own a spear point tool.  It is possible to turn a simple bowl with one gouge, any additional tools are a convenience, but you know  that.  I have not heard of the publication

Have not seen this publication, but used to get Wood Workers Journal. They can make a simple bookshelf be expensive and complicated. Main reson stopped getting it.

I get it.  Like you I wonder about it's validity.  There was a video recently that I really had concerns with.  Don't remember what it was at the time and I thought about posting it for other's comments.

To me, a good video will last.
It's content may change with time, tools, material and that sort of thing but the general tool techniques and safety aspects should still be valid.
I hope that it's clear to everyone that not all "professional" turners and instructors are good teachers.
Example
In the video about Harvesting Burls, the man operating the chainsaw is NOT showing anything close to proper chainsaw safety. (6:25-7:05)
Standing awkwardly, saw just about between his legs and burying the tip in the cut.
Also he's cutting with the grain which can clog up a saw very quickly, if you can avoid that cut you should.

Well it is owned and published by Rockler so multiple tools are to be expected, they got to sell there stuff somehow.
