I am finally getting a sub-panel in my shoP. I will now be able to hook up my band saw, dust collector to 220V and run better. And save for the Big yellow mustard monster.

Just an up-date. Got the electricity in. What a nice relief!! Ordered and received a Split- Mini HVAC unit. Now to clean a wall space and install. Then comes lighting. Thinking 8 8 foot 2 tube units should give me equal lighting.

If you haven't already considered LED I would strongly suggest at least looking at it. Personally I feel it's a huge step up over fluorescent.

Ralph, it's just a 2 car garage. But I do not want a lot of shadows. And my eyes aren't what they used to be.

Ditto on the LEDs.  You can pick up the shop light sizes for around $20-30 and they are brighter than flourescents.  I have four of them in my shop and it's much better than what they replaced.

I'd highly recommend installing LED battens. I have 2, one 4' and one 5' over two workbenchs. I have another 600x600 LED panels, one over my lathe and another over another workbench. All of them are daylight 6000 K.

I'm sure my workshop can be seen from the ISS evertime they pass over!  Grin

Glenn, Rockler has some really good sales on 4' LED lights from time to time. I am sure other places do also. They are so cheap I can't see putting anything else in. The light is so much better you will not believe it.

By the way "I love the color of mustard".

I'm in a basement shop at the moment and have 3 useable outlets. I have been surviving off of a power cord and a surge protector. Is there a power strip out there that is strong enough to handle a shop vac and a bench planer at the same time? I just tripped the one I have and I guess its fried.

Michael, be sure to check out the breaker size for the shop. It may only be a 15 amp breaker, you do not want to overload it. For those 2 units, I would suggest using 2 different outlets on 2 different breakers.
