Not as old as me Mike. I listened to little Orphan Annie on the Radio Lips Sealed

You had a RADIO???? Shocked Shocked

I had one - it had a crystal and a cat's whisker for tuning.

I can remember listening to Gunsmoke & Have Gun Will Travel before we got a TV. That was back in the 50's.

I hear you on keeping track of serial numbers etc.  One thing I also do is I have a box I keep all my source disks along with the serial number in it.  If I download software to install, I first write it to a CD and include the serial number and that goes into the box also.  If you have multiple computers, be sure to add which computer it was installed on.
That's my computer safety net.

Exact same here.  Everything goes on the disc or on a piece of 3x5 card stock so it will not get lost so easy.

I learned basic in 1976 from a Mr. Crowley while I lived as an Air Force brat -in Italy -  we would have contests to calculate pi to 100 digits and the winner would be who would have the smallest code - Mr Crowley’s million dollar idea was to calculate the taper of bamboo fly fishing rods -or so he thought -  we had a computer that we literally had to punch in the boot code - also we thought we were in tall cotton. When the school purchased a tape reader to boot the machine - and yes teletypes were the defacto workstation
