There is certainly a case for making your own tools but when it becomes unsafe it's time to step back and look at what you're doing before you injure yourself.

This combination of things looks to be nothing more than an accident waiting to happen.
That's my opinion
I'm sure the person who made it and posted it online doesn't think there's anything wrong with it

Right now it only has 4. Also depends on the RPM of the grinder. I agree, it does not appear safe. Glenn J.

Little "rule of thumb" The gullet between the teeth/cutters, should not be three times as large as the size of what you're cutting, it's a safety thing.

Especially since there are quality duplicators out there like the Vega units. I know they cost but what's your safety worth?

If you're willing to bet your digits on those plastic straps not breaking, that's on you.

I think I must have been absent the day they handed everyone an angle grinder and told them, "Now you're a maker"

Even if your basic idea has merit, stop, stand back and look at what you're doing. This is how we end up with right-handed guys named Lefty.

I have a grinder like that with a saw chain wheel. Scares me when ever I turn it on. But for some reason it does not seem to kick back. No, I would not use that tool the way it is set up. If that skinny workpiece fractures while it is turning who know what part of you it will be sticking into even if the angle grinder does not get you.

I sometimes turn stuff from treated 6x6 stock. I sometimes mount the square block between centers, lock the lathe with the index pin, and grind down the corners a little with the grinder. I guess I should make a sled for the band saw to cut off the corners when I get "a round tuit".

I use the chain saw disc with the lathe off and spindle locked to make it somewhat round. I use a router speed control to limit the rpm's.
