Hi , been away for some time, finally got back on my feet, divorce after a long lengthy  marriage. all good now  , purchased a house with a 20x40 out building, so now I have my shop i've been dreaming about.
So I want to get back into turning, I have a 20 year old mini Jet lathe and an old J-170 YA lathe, Its time to move up into a larger and modern lathe.
A  Laguna 18/36 just popped up locally ,asking price $1500 or bo, I researched the lathe around $3,000 new? , waiting for a call back.
So I read good and bad about the Laguna line any insite.
A Powermatic 4224b is all so for sale locally , but asking price $6500 with a lot of extra tooling, its 8 years old with hardly any use, I think thats high, but out of my budget anyway. thanks for any insite, Gene

I love my laguna, it’s smooth and quiet. Very stable and versatile. I turn bowls. Has exceeded my expectations.

I would recommend you buy it if the condition permits, had mine 4 years now , no issues    110 volt or 220 ??

When I stopped living in the problem and began living in the answer the problem went away.

I have done some research ,I read that some owners had had electronic issues with these lathes, I am sure if it turns up in this lathe I can correct it.My shop is all OWWM ,so used to fixing machines, this will be my newest addition.Really excited.
Its only 2 years old, according to the woman ,its been hardly used. after looking closer at the picture, it does look new, all so I saw a factory halogen light installed on the headstock., so thats an extra. so patiently waiting for a call.

So I picked up the lathe Wednesday, Its like brand new, been sitting for a bout 2 years untouched. The owner received it as a Christmas present from his wife, came down with some lung issues, now on portable oxygen. Its beds has some rust from sitting in a unheated shop. Its 220 ,comes with a factory light. very happy, now I have to run this weekend to make a wire adapter, my 220 plug it  is a different type, tried loading pictures, having a problem with that.

If you aren't using the existing 220v outlet, why not just change it to what you need?  If you need the existing outlet, some places let you have more than 1 outlet on an existing line.  If you can, just add a 2d outlet, just insure you don't use both at the same time.
Just some thoughts.
By the way, congrats on the lathe.

My shop has a 100 amp panel at this time I only have a one 220 line I share it with my Unisaw and a old mint Boise Crane thickness planner, so will make a wip with the right female / male adapters till I can install extra receptacles.  Smiley
