I got some small pieces of firewood that had been drying for 15 years in a shed. It turned out to be cherry and had this wonderful color. I turned most into very small live edge bowls like this one. I love turning cherry as it smells great and cuts like butter with a nice sharp gouge.

I love how warm cherry looks!!

Nice little bowl. Smiley

Makes me want to go out to my wood shelter and rummage for a couple pieces of cherry burl.

Glad it worked out well for you.  Just bear in mind that as wood dries it shrinks and often develops cracks.  If turning dried firewood, it would be worth taking the time regularly to stop the lathe and check for cracks that have opened up.

And staying out of the "line of fire."

That cherry bowl should darken nicely with age.
Good job with it.
