Most of you know that Powermatic is celebrating it's 100th year anniversary with a few select tools (7 in total). these tools have a special paint scheme and some added features.
The 3520C is scheduled for a fall release.

That new paint is expensive  Roll Eyes

As usual, I think Powermatic's prices are a bit high, more than a bit on some machines.
I made the mistake of looking at their 22-44 drum sander. No way in ____ I would pay that much for a machine like that. The actual "working" parts, motor, drum, conveyor and adjustment mechanism are no different that any other simple drum sander. So why the high price, he asks rhetorically?  Roll Eyes

Well, I would like to have a helical head planer and jointer, if for no other reason, just to avoid the tear out.

I have an old Performax 22 X 44 drum sander, which they don't make any more. It is rather flimsy compared to the PM. One thing they don't have on it that I think they should have is a 3 phase motor with variable speed for the drum. Getting burn marks and having the abrasive ruined was a major pain. I commented to them that the drum rotates too fast, and their solution is to slow down the feed belt drive. Still doesn't solve the drum speed problem. Found out long ago that with abrasives on wood, slower is better for cutting faster....
