The one thing he did that most people don't do is make alignment posts. When making a pattern such as a Celtic knot, it's crucial to keep the aliment or the end result will not be symmetric.

the cons
The bandsaw jig needs to be height adjustable to limit the amount of free blade exposed. Epoxy would not be my first choice, it is too thick and can leave a visible glue line. For a smooth mated surface, PVA glue is more than adequate.

Artist opinion
I don't care for his knot, 3 rings does not translate well on this type of project. The rings in the knot are too thick and make the overall piece look "clunky"

Agreed, Ed. I attended a session with John and bought his plans for his jigs. This strikes me as nothing more than a rip off of John's concept. John's is much more flexible in the cuts it can make, too.

When John taught a class at The Center for Furniture Craftsmanship, he had one of the teachers aids build a few of them and then sold them to whomever wanted one...so, i bought one.


I had planned to get into it but daily work seems to always keep me from those dreams.
