Miter gauges

Welcome to another edition of who is this for
Most all of you know I like to tease about the Woodpecker line of tools.
1. because of the price
2. because many are just rehashed existing tools
3. many are a solution to a problem that no one has.

With this in mind, let's focus on #3
A fixed 90 degree miter gauge for $269.99
As an alternative, you could purchase almost any of the INCRA miter gauges except the most expensive, which is $30 more than the WP.

Now these have all of the same features (more actually) and can be adjusted to other angles other than 90  Shocked with a mechanical locking mechanism that can be easily repeated.
This is where I get confused, pay more and get less. Help me out here

I do like one or two Woodpecker tools but this aint one of them.

It seems that the Woodpecker thinking is that any angle other than 90 degrees just isn't... well, right. Smiley

You certainly wouldn't want to be seen as being acute, or even worse, as obtuse!

Lately we seem to be having a glut of rulers, squares and other measuring devices yet I see no more/better work being done. Seems like all I see are cutting boards. While useful and practical, they're far from a high tolerance demanding woodworking endeavor IMO.
Spending top dollar on precision tools is fine, 1. if you know how to use them and 2. if they improve your work. Otherwise it's just a waste of money.

Now all of you who make cutting boards can let me have it.

I have made only a few cutting boards, two of which are framed and hanging on a wall. The work to make them caused me to make pictures out of them rather than being used as cutting boards. The cutting boards that produce 3D looking surfaces require very precise cutting and glue up. Or you do not get the desired look.

With that said I do agree, we tend to spend a lot of money on very precise tools that we probably do not "need".

I'm one of "those" woodworkers that doesn't measure much.
I do my measurements, layout, setup and go. Using stop blocks, guides and jigs it becomes unnecessary. It's just my method of work.

woodpecker tools are made for today's generation of woodworkers who have no idea how to do woodworking, but want to look like they do.

really sad.

One thing also occurred about WP and the way they market their tools.
You're doing it wrong
Tired of your tool doing this???
Look at we made (it's been around for 100 years  Roll Eyes) and it's RED
Your tool can't do this
Stop guessing
Your project will come out perfect
This is accurate to .00000000001
Your tools only cost what? real tools cost a fortune

I suppose once you get past all the negativity and become indoctrinated, everything they make is without question the best.

Even good companies make bad products from time to time.

they are not bad products, it is the price and the hype that is outrageous.

The perfect example.
I actually like Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or Register
But I can't justify $169 on a combination square
