Another what is it tool

Another tool from the garage sale. This one was given to me today. There were really three sockets missing from the set I bought yesterday. Only two showed but one of the sockets was not the brand of the rest of the set. The lady found one of them and called. So I went back this morning and she also gave me this as I had looked at it yesterday.

That was my first thought as well. I like the carvings/etchings on the outside. Wonder about country of origin....

No marks of any kind other than the design on the back of the shell.

Ah, but if you examine that design carefully you'll see the symbols: 中国制造 for "Made in China". Cheesy

I do not think so. This is an old piece. Back when this was made China was not a manufacturing exporter like they are today. I am guessing this was made in a small mom and pop type foundry right here in the USA.

I’m sorry.   I meant that as a joke.  My “gut” feeling is that it was made in Germany, but I have no hard evidence to support that feeling.

It was read as and understood as a joke.

A lot of the stuff at that garage sale was from the 1950's and 1960's. They owned a saw sharp shop for around thirty years in small town Georgia. They also dabbled in selling at flea markets back then. The seller told me she had no idea how she came by it. Blamed it on her late husband.  Smiley

Even after just the first couple years of marriage I had learned it is ALWAYS the husband's fault . . .
