This was also at the garage sale. This had a patent number inside the lid so I already know what it is. Others are so fast to know what these old items are I am just seeing if anyone knows this piece.

That was fast. Have you used one in the past?

This one has Frederick Post on the threaded button that holds the top on. Inside is Patent No. 2540320 and a couple other characters.

Actually is a drafting pencil lead pointer. Do drafting people even use lead pencils today? Other than me when I am designing something to build in my shop that is.  Smiley

I can be sure but I seem to remember back in Jr. high, we had drafting before shop class. Each desk/drafting table had one of those mounted to it.
This would have been in 77

Here's mine:

At least 50 plus yrs old.
We used a foam ring to clean off the graphite dust from the point.

Mine also had a movable insert ring allowing me to change the angle of the point.

Notice the original image was a fixed insert ring.

Don't forget the double blade ink pen. By time I worked in graphics it was Rapidograph.

The one I pictured had a foam ring. I took it off to take the picture.

Or ask that same young kid why we call it dialing the phone. Will not have a clue.
