Looks like you went with a smaller size so it is more of a 'temporary' building, which means you probably wouldn't need a building permit. That works. You may want extra support under where the lathe goes. I do hope the dirt us very well compacted. Plate compacters do not work on dirt. If you haven't used one of the 'sheep's foot' rollers on it, or if the dirt has not sat for years, it will settle. Did concrete work for a bunch of years....

I have never seen pink studs before. I did see some 'cherry stained' studs once when marketing people were way too bored. Is it some bug protection?

My guess you are moving out of the basement. I was in a low cieling damp cramped basement for 35yrs. Retired at 62, moved and built my dream 16x25 woodshop. Told everyone if I got 5yrs to use it I'd be content. I've been blessed with 18yrs and still going (slower). Point is I hope you too are blessed as I have been. Enjoy!  MOE Smiley

The dirt I used for the pad has a very high clay content. Before building the pad, I removing the top soil so that I had a harder surface to start with.
The area where the lathe will go has been reinforced. I told my carpenter that I would be getting a new lathe that weighted 600 lbs. The floor joists are 2x6 and all of the wood is pressure treated and rated for ground contact. The pink studs are treated and the pink top coat, I think, is for bugs.

David. I have a 15x20 shop that is part of my house. It used to be a carport that I had closed in several years ago. I use that shop for reloading and doing gun stock repairs. It has over 20 feet of work benches in it. I crammed my woodturning stuff in it when I started turning In December of 2020 when I retired.
No basements in my area, they would just fill up with water. Grin
The new shop will be strictly for woodturning. I dont do flat word because, I have trouble with straight lines. Wink
It gets hot in the summer down here and the winters can be cold and wet. So, Im installing a cool/heat AC unit so that I can play in the shop all year.
Another problem we have is rain. So, the eves overhang is going to be 18.
I talked with my carpenter today and were going to add a storage area on the back side of the shop that will be 16x6 so, that I can keep wood out of the weather.

My first 'real' shop was a pole barn with a metal roof, and no insulation. Almost went deaf the first time I was in there and it rained.... Insulation guy was a genius. He sprayed adhesive on the bats, then used poles to lift them to the roof. Then that got covered with a white reflective layer of some thing. Cost was about $50 more than I could buy just the batting for.  Great for heat reflection as well....

It gets pretty hot down here, with a lot of humidity too. And the winters are cold and wet. I have a door with a large window for the shop.

Elle is my service dog, she carries a grenade for emotional support. You just never know when youre going to need a grenade. Grin The grenade is actually a poop bag dispenser.
My carpenter didnt come yesterday, but my brother came by after work and started on the wiring.
