It seems to me that it's becoming more and more common for people to either:
1. Take credit for ideas & designs that aren't their own
2. Let unaware people believe that the idea & design is their own by omission ( not telling them)
I recently saw a person on YT make a turners cube out of resin and other material, not my cup of tea but that's not the point.
In the comments, I would estimate about 50% or more were under the impression that he came up with the turners cube design. Judging by their fawning comments, I can only guess they never saw or heard of one before.
I commented that he should let his viewers know that he didn't design it, he only made his version of it, as to not mislead his viewers.
I got called a Karen.
I really am getting sick and tired of many (mostly younger) people not respecting history. Everything is "new" just because they never heard of it, this is just crazy.
There are lots of designs and concepts out there
I've never seen but it doesn't mean they're new, just new to me.
I can't even fathom putting out a piece based on someone else's design and leaving people with the impression that I designed it.
It's just dishonest. I know I can't stop everyone from doing this but I will call it out when I see it.
This is just like the story of the photographer and the painter that I shared a while back.
