Description}: Walnut hf in a very high gloss finish. 13" wide by 3.5 tall. Has half a dozen coats of gloss poly and buffed. Lots of swirling grain, a rotted off branch and some carpenter ant holes. Mother nature gave me a lot of help with this low profile form.

Wire stained Walnut platter

Description}: This platter is among the first of several finished pieces from a large Walnut score back in Feb of this year. The huge Section of log it came out of had several strands of barbed wire buried deep within. There was a pretty dark purple stain all around the wire, which I hoped would retain the color throughout turning and finishing. Afraid the purple was black once the turning was done but still seems to add some interest to the piece. 15.5X2.5 or so and finished with multiple coats of Formby�s tung oil, buffed and Ren wax.

Spalted Hackberry HF

Description}: I found 3 pieces of this Hackberry that have been hidden(think lost) in the shop since '07. Dry as dust and hard as Pecancrete!6x3.5 (6x6 to top of finial) and finished with half a dozen coats of home brew DO, buffed and Ren wax. Finial is Walnut.

Description}: Walnut hf with some spalting in the sapwood. Just couldn't make myself turn that sapwood wood away. 7"x6" (10.5" tall with walnut finial). Has 8 coats of gloss poly, 3-wheel buffed.

It fell off of a shelf and landed on the fence of my miter saw and broke a big piece out of the upper lip. So I remounted and returned the lip and added a cap & finial. Description}: This smallish HF is 7" X 5" tall. Spalted maple ring inlaid just above the collar ring. 5 coats of DO and 2 wheel buffed. Feels great in the hands. Sorry about the glare but shiney is a real bear for me to get a decent photo of.

Description}: This 8x2 cherry bowl features a beaded and textured rim. Finished with gloss poly. The lady who ordered it wanted a tough gloss finish so she could just wipe out the oil and dust from the nuts she plans on serving from it. She wanted a design or point of interes on the rim but did not want to worry about getting the dust out of the texturing. After 5 coats of poly the texturing is filled but still visiable.

Description}: this piece was requested by an old customer for her daughter. She wanted the bowl turned from "that wood with the black lines in it". She also wanted a flat rim and I could not talk her out of that. I just hate turning a flat rim, too many attractive options that look a lot better than flat! 10x2.75with wipeon poly and buffed.
