Had to get back into practice on the lathe after a little time off. Was happy to hear the turner's pop when opening the lid.

5 comments http://www.woodturnersresource.com/wrphotopost/showphoto.php?photo=5398&title=cocobolo-box&cat=500 http://www.woodturnersresource.com/wrphotopost/showphoto.php?photo=5398&title=cocobolo-box&cat=500 Mon, 12 Nov 2007 09:01:25 +0000 Carolina Cherry Burl Bowl bottom

by: flyboy

Description}: Here is a shot of the bottom. I have yet to finish it as it is only sanded and oiled now. I tried wet sanding it with olive oil as recommended by ByGeorge. I don't know if I am doing it the same way but it looks great sanded with olive oil. I will finish with a satin poly. The bowl looks great from the bottom as there is a lot of burl figure on the bottom. I will post a picture from the bottom also. The bark inclusion had some large voids that I wanted smooth. I took a tip from Marley and filled the void with fresh coffee grounds and CA glue. It really came out nice. Much nicer that times that I have used CA and shavings.

3 comments http://www.woodturnersresource.com/wrphotopost/showphoto.php?photo=4711&title=carolina-cherry-burl-bowl&cat=500 http://www.woodturnersresource.com/wrphotopost/showphoto.php?photo=4711&title=carolina-cherry-burl-bowl&cat=500 Mon, 04 Jun 2007 01:40:09 +0000 C&T Twister

by: flyboy

Description}: This piece is about 12" tall and is made out of Carolina Cherry with Claro Walnut (from Spinner)for the end caps and the center spinner.
