Table is set to 40 degrees and rotate the scraper from center to far left and then far right with it flat on the table. By doing it this way and getting the cutting edge far up the tool's side it does nicely inside of bowls...very smooth. http://www.woodturnersresource.com/wrphotopost/showphoto.php?photo=3230&title=scraper-sharpening&cat=534 http://www.woodturnersresource.com/wrphotopost/showphoto.php?photo=3230&title=scraper-sharpening&cat=534 Sat, 16 Sep 2006 11:55:31 +0000 Negative Rake Scraper Top View

by: keith bundy http://www.woodturnersresource.com/wrphotopost/showphoto.php?photo=858&title=negative-rake-scraper-top-view&cat=534 http://www.woodturnersresource.com/wrphotopost/showphoto.php?photo=858&title=negative-rake-scraper-top-view&cat=534 Fri, 15 Jul 2005 04:41:22 +0000 Negative Rake Scraper Side

by: keith bundy

Description}: This is a side view showing how a negative rake scraper is ground. You will see these in the catalogs as hardwood or ivory scrapers. Batty actually grinds the longer bevel on the top. That way you only have grind the bottom until you get near the top. The way it is ground in the picture you have to grind the top and the bottom. I can't remember if the angles are critical, I don't think they are.

6 comments http://www.woodturnersresource.com/wrphotopost/showphoto.php?photo=855&title=negative-rake-scraper-side&cat=534 http://www.woodturnersresource.com/wrphotopost/showphoto.php?photo=855&title=negative-rake-scraper-side&cat=534 Fri, 15 Jul 2005 04:37:48 +0000
