Hey I was up at 3:00 AM doing this okay!!! Bottom is Acacia, the lid is Mesquite and the finial is lychee. Honest critiques please on this. It is still possible to modify the lid a small bit and the finial too.

1 comment http://www.woodturnersresource.com/wrphotopost/showphoto.php?photo=7317&title=another-lidded-something&cat=500 http://www.woodturnersresource.com/wrphotopost/showphoto.php?photo=7317&title=another-lidded-something&cat=500 Wed, 11 Mar 2009 17:08:43 +0000 Lidded something

by: Philip Peak

Description}: Started off as a bowl but a design opportunity presented itself. Yeah that's right, got a catch and broke what I had, this is the salvage. not as big as I had planned but still, I think it came out okay. It is made of Mesquite (bottom) Narra (lid) and a piece of acacia (finial). one coat of oil and urathane finish then Beal buffed. Big problem is the white diamond got into some pores and now there is a white shadow over parts of it. Do you think if I hit it again with the tripoly and then the carnuba wax it will get the white diamond out? 5" D X 4" tall to the top of the finial

2 comments http://www.woodturnersresource.com/wrphotopost/showphoto.php?photo=7316&title=lidded-something&cat=500 http://www.woodturnersresource.com/wrphotopost/showphoto.php?photo=7316&title=lidded-something&cat=500 Wed, 11 Mar 2009 16:54:09 +0000 Hat

by: Philip Peak

Description}: Yet another photo of my hat. IT didn't turn out just like IPlanned but then what ever does. What happened was I was given one of those screwdrivers that you can pull the haft out of the handle and each end has a removable tip with a cross tip and a flat blade on each end but of different sizes. Well, I broke the plastic handle doing something that I should not have been doing. I had seen ina mag somewhere that one of the supply companieswas selling screwdriver kits and it looked pretty much like what I had after I broke mine so I thought I would try and do a wood handle and here is what I got.

3 comments http://www.woodturnersresource.com/wrphotopost/showphoto.php?photo=6250&title=secret-project&cat=502 http://www.woodturnersresource.com/wrphotopost/showphoto.php?photo=6250&title=secret-project&cat=502 Thu, 10 Jul 2008 09:00:35 +0000 Oage Orange Cube Challenge piece

by: Philip Peak

Description}: I can't believe I am the first to post. I don't know what else to call it. It isn't going quite as I had planned. The reason it is sitting on a roll of masing tape is because it still has a tenon on it because I am not real happy with it the way it is. I got the brilliant idea to ask you all what you would change if yo were given this and was told to fix it. Keep in mind that the walls are right around 1/4" thick and so are the wings. You know, that would make an interesting challenge wouldn't it? To be given a trading partner and each person send the other an unfinished piece that they have laying around (we all have them I'm sure, you know the ones you have half done andare not sure what or if you even want to do something with) do something with it and send it back finished/fixed.
