About Me
I spent the last 10 or so years focusing on metalwork (sheetmetal shaping, and fabrication) and carbuilding, and have recently gotten back into woodworking. I use an old 50's craftsman lathe I've had since before I was born, that I modified to increase the swing by 4". I also do other things with wood, aside from turning, as I'm sure most of the others on here do as well.
I fired up my lathe a few months ago just to see if I still had a knack for it. I was obsessed with my car (53 chevy sedan delivery) that I'm building, and I wanted to give it the burlwood knob treatment, but then I quckly got lost in the spinning piece of cheap pine in front of me and quickly forgot about my car.
I set out to find some unique wood and found a guy that had some very old dunnage for sale, and bought some purpleheart, walnut, red oak, and some light colored and very old looking mysterywood. With the mysterywood and some leftover leopardwood I had from some pistol grips I made, I made my first vase...
