These are some candlestick holders I recently turned. They are turned like you would to inside out turning, then on axis to finish the top and bottom. They are about 14" tall and the ribbons are about an inch and three quarters wide. The finish is lacquer.
The reflection looks fairly sharp to me. The grain isn't very defined, more like a burl than defined rings. The one on the far left isn't giving off much of a reflection so it looks soft. I'll maybe see if I can borrow my daughter's camera, if you think it has a chance.
