I actually put about 8 coats of paste wax on while still on the lathe, wax on, wax off etc. That's why it looks kinda dull. The thing was literally dripping wet when I turned it, I ended up w/a nice shower and some funky stains on my apron.
In a fit of insanity, I decided to drop it in the microwave this morning and do some quick drying so I could put a more durable finish on it and have it ready for Christmas morning. Alas, I ended up with a heavily smoking bowl and a very smelly house. I grabbed the bowl with a hand towel and tossed it into the front yard. After I cleaned up the mess and aired out the house (Good thing my bride was not home, or I would have had a bad christamas!) I retrieved the bowl and took it down to the shop. On a sad to glad note, I rubbed it down with steel wool and buffed it w/white rouge and wax and it looks better than before. I will post a pic later today for contrast!! BTW, it is dry now!!!
She smelled something when she got home. I told her I burnt dinner. That thing was smoking worse than a Hippy at Woodstock! It was a nano-second away from going up in flames. The thing cracked and popped for about half an hour!
