Well here it is. I told you I wasn't gonna be meeting the stem requirements but this design got in my head and I had to do it. It stands about 6 1/2" tall the cup part is 3 3/4 diameter and about 2 1/4" or so to the top of the flutes. The flutes are about 3 1/2" long. I hope you lke it Ken, cause it's yours.
That's a nice "twist" to the rules anyway you look at it. I know it involved some carving but I'm curious, did you carve the twist or carve it straight and steam and twist the twist into it? However you did that it has a very interesting look.
When you were telling me about this piece, I envisioned something a bit different. But this is great. Nice work. As for the dark line, did you try 60 grit? If you used a scraper or even 60 grit, and it's still there, there was probably noting much you could do with it. Just the way it is sometimes. Very nice piece of wood and work. 8)
Good job Phil, I have been wanting to try something like that, but just haven't gotten up the nerve. I guess all the night shifts have made you a bit twisted
Phil, I like it!
Mine's still a bit in the rough, I'll try getting it finished and shot by midnight. (shot with a camera, that is).
Hey, it looks to me like the stem pieces may be 3/16" thick--and if they're each 3 1/2" long, that gives 7" total stem length which goes beyond the requirements
