Oak body, walnut lid and stem. 3" wide, 4" high to base of stem. Body colored with Dark Oak stain, and the lid is carved to better resemble an acorn cap.
Thanks for the comments. I wanted to do something different, but then I think everyone else did too. Boxes lend themselves to lots of possibilities.
Spiraling tool? Uh, no. Just a pencil to mark the pattern, a v-gouge to form the groove, and some sandpaper.
Dan hasn't perused the pics yet, but I'm totally looking for to it arriving in the mail!!! And, since we live in the woods, it will fit perfectly wherever Dan decides to place it. Great piece!
