This wood came from Smoky. While it does show some burl figure, I still believe that this tree was hit by lightning. Many area of the bark look to have bled severly at some point. Beautiful color and really moving grain. About 1/4" thick from top to bottom. Finish is a coat of lacquer/thinner followed by a coat of tung oil finish. Still needs to be buffed.
Looks good Rev, that cherry makes a good looking bowl. You have been busy lately and have some very nice projects completed. I hope to do more turning soon.
Thanks, Tom. I was looking through my stash the other day and saw this cherry. Thought I would spin a bit of it. Came out pretty nice. Picture looks a bit thick, but it feels pretty nice in the hand. Thanks again for the wood. 8)
