Very nice. You've got a great continuous curve from top to bottom. The only thing that I would make a suggestion on would be the base. I would suggest a bit smaller, maybe as small as the opening of your collar. Really is nice the way it is. I like it a lot. 8-)
You know Rev, I think the same thing. Looked right when horizontal on the lathe, when I dis-mounted to finish I was looking at it vertically and thought I had made the base a bit to big!...Bill...
Sure Boxx! After each coat of poly I wet sand the finish till all defects are gone. I use water and black 400 grit automotive paper. Once the entire piece has the desired gloss I put on one final heavy coat. If all is ok I bring it upstairs into the warmth till I can no longer smell the finish. Then back to the shop for a 3 wheel buff. The number of coats depends entirely on the wood. Maple is usually 4 or so but Cedar sucks it up and I have gone as high as 10 or 11 coats. 1 a day to let the finsh get hard enough to wet sand..Bill..
