eighty-six pieces of walnut and paduk. this piece is sitting on a three legged stand which was turned and then cut on the table saw. however the most challenging part was the inlaying of the paduk rings in the bottom.they started as one larger ring, that i first trued up the outside of, and then made a jam chuck to get the inside trued up. afterwards i repeated the prosses for the smaller ring. if you'll notice, the bottom is one piece of walnut. i then took my parting tool and worked on the inside and outside of each circle diameter until the paduk rings fit snug. alot of work for such a small detail, but i like the way the walnut grain flows across the paduk.
