This is my very first successful turning of a piece of maple that's been in the shop for quite some time now. I tried turning other pieces with it, but the rotting / spalting of it was so bad that it was hard NOT to ruin a piece. I'm so proud of this piece, with it's red streaks & knots, It's going to be hard to see this one go, should someone buy it. Also going to be hard to price, as I just love it so much...How can you price that?! Anyways, it measures 6" tall X 3 1/2" in diameter. All comments welcome (as usual).
Beautiful work and beautiful wood. Looks like Box Elder.
Pricing is easy: just keep adding dollars until you get to the point where you'd rather have the money than the vase . . . that'd be your minimum selling price.
Beautiful work, Bert! I'm with the other guys, if you can possibly afford not to sell it - don't. It means something special to you and the moment it sells will never mean as much as having a piece you're so proud of.

It's been 11 years since I posted this piece. I still have it, however the red streaks are no longer red. I suppose over time once it totally dries up, it just becomes brown.
