Ok, so this pen turning has gotten to the point where there are pens everywhere. I finally let the wife talk me into letting her set up a web site for me. Please take a look and let me know what you think. Brutally honest is ok too. Thanks.

The first thing that caught my eye was the flat top pen on special, marked down from $65.99 to $70.00.  Other than that, it looks good.

Very nice, clean, and organized.  You have nice products that you have turned out.

I did notice that some of your pens had the wood/material used identified, but some didn't.  Might be better if you would go back and label all the wood types.

Any questions answered upfront is usually better.  But at the same token, unanswered questions can stimulate conversation. Hmmmmm Undecided Undecided

Spent some time looking over your site, and I do have one question....
How much does your wife charge to set up a site?
Great job.

Brad I was thinking the same thing.  I need a site so bad and still cannot get a handle on where to start.  Even a how-to would be really helpful.

Your wife did a fine job! Very well organized and a sensable layout. I found it easy to navigate and the zoom feature worked quite well without reloading a new page...Good luck with your sales...Bill...

Thanks for the input everyone. I really do appreciate it. When you are up to your eyeballs is stuff that is foreign to you, it is hard to spot the mistakes. You have been a huge help. I asked Susan (not "Pat") smiley=lolk.gif about setting up the same thing for others. She said she would give it some thought. You should know that she did the set up, but all of the entering products and site maintenance is up to me. It is a little on the difficult side and requires a lot of going back to the tutorials until you get the hang of it. But I am proof that a lot frustration can be overcome.

Since I am just getting into to this, what are your opinions on the prices. Do they seem reasonable? For most I just put about 3x my material cost. Seems like trying to price them is like shooting in the dark.

Hi Chuck,

Pricing is a long debated topic without a definitive solution.  There are equations and 'feelings' for pricing but the general consensus of opinion is not to under price your work and adjust prices to assess sales volumes, sometimes you need to go up because if people don't think you value your work they won't either and things can seem too cheap at times.

Some of the guys who do shows and fairs will tell you that there are different prices for different locations and different stock as well, some things sell better than others in different venues.

If you look through the 'Marketing' forum there are threads dealing with this and good information from experienced sellers.

Looks pretty good Chuck. I like the pop up large picture and easy layout. I did find a little mistake on your Corian Products page you have made "fromcounter" top I think it should be from counter top.

Chuck I went back and looked more closely I think that you need to have someone go through and prof read your descriptions and do just a little work on them. It might help if you had someone else do it for you because you might not see the mistake you made but someone else can. The mistakes I have seen are small but to me and my wife stand out.
Hope this helps a little.
