Grant Wilkinson WR Addict Offline Posts: 783 Ottawa Ontario Canada	Bit and pieces slat bowl Feb 7^th, 2013 at 9:05pm As is obvious, this was just a handful of birch off cuts and a bloodwood slat ring. It's a bit more hodgepodge than I would have liked, but my wife likes it, so it won't go to the burn bin. It's about 8.5" in diameter, 4" high and the base is about 2". Thank for looking.

Dennis: I don't have pics of the process, but I followed quite closely the process used by Denny Edwards. You can see his site and the process for a slats bowl here

You will need Quicktime to view the movie. Denny gives a very detailed account of how to go about making one of these. I did it a bit differently, but in terms of making the slats ring, I followed Denny's approach pretty much to the letter.

If, after watching the video, you have any questions, I'll try my best to answer them. Denny is very open to questions, too.

Thanks again very much. I love the Edward Scissorhands description. It is much more elegant than "hodgepodge".

Breck: Although I have given many to my buddy with a wood stove, this one will find a place on my wife's desk somewhere. I don't know about you, but I simply run out of places to store them, so I either cut them up to see how my wall thickness is, or give them to my buddy to heat his house. Since most of the off cuts come from him, it's sort of a return favour.
