2016 Calendar Poll
Sep 26th, 2015 at 12:25pm

It's almost that time of year again when we start thinking about the WR calendar.

Each year for the past 9 years the WR has put together a calendar of turnings submitted and voted on by the members. Unfortunately, the 2015 calendar almost didn't become a reality due to a lack of submissions.
There are countless pieces turned each year by the members of WR that could easily grace the pages of our calendar. The calendar can be a great gift or keepsake and helps keep WR up and running.

The staff at WR would like your input to gauge how much interest there is for a 2015 calendar.
Please take a few moments to indicate which poll question best describes your interest level.
Comments and suggestions are always welcome.
Last year, at the suggestions of some members, we included an extra page of photos, for those who submitted but did not get selected for the 12 monthly selections.

Thanks for your time, The staff at WR

I hope the calendar continues.  Events of recent years have kept me from turning much.  I was hoping to submit for 2017.
I've seen so many creations that should be submitted.

I certainly agree, there is an abundance of talent among the members here, I hope more people will share their work this year.

I like being able to have a calendar that shows the work of a hobby that I enjoy.  The year that my submission was selected, I gave many away as gifts.  This year I plan on submitting and buying at least 2. One for my work place office and one for home office. Whether or not I get selected.

And I want to thank those that set them up.

I agree with Guy, Glen and Ed, I was fortunate enough to have my submission make the cover of the calendar for 2015, bought several copies to share with the family and 1 to keep in a hermitically sealed clear plastic  envelope so I could show it off to anyone who would listen Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

My wife, Kat, who is also a member on this Forum are both looking forward to submitting some entries for this year;s edition.

I would submit and certainly I would buy a few. It is a wonderful way to show off the work of fellow turners.

I said I would submit, but I'm not sure if I will end up with anything worth submitting.

We all get this mind set that what should be submitted should be mind blowing. Really it should be any turned piece that you are proud of. We are a family that wants to show off what other family members have done. Whether first object off the lathe to something that people like Breck has produced.

Well said, everyone has a piece they're proud of, and any piece is eligible to be submitted.

It was one of the best days of my life to be chosen to have my picture on the calendar & also for the front cover. I didn't think I was good enough compared to a bunch of you here. It just made me feel like I am improving my skills & appreciated in my turning abilities. This is ONLY DUE to the great help I have got from all of you. I definitely will but 2 calendars one for home to hang in my shop & one for work. Although with my work schedule this past year I haven't really done anything worth submitting this year  Cry

I DON'T want to see the calendar go away !!!

That's up to the members to decide if it's worthy, just submit and see what happens.

I'm in the same boat as far as not much turned this past year (too busy with other things). I'll submit something, whether it's selected or not is out of my hands.
Thanks to everyone who has voted in the poll so far, regardless of choice.

Okay everyone, the poll has been going for almost two weeks, and to date we have happily gotten 13 people who have indicated that they would/could submit a piece for the 2016 WR  calendar. Smiley
This is great, but we certainly can do better can't we?
I know that in the past year I have seen many more than a dozen pieces that would look great on the pages of a calendar.
Remember, any piece can be submitted by any member, any skill level, any style.
Thanks

Ed, a least the 12 of 13 are very likely to get on the calendar.  The one I really want to submit is in Oklahoma. (Near Kathy) was a wedding present to my daughter.

So, Since it's nearly end of October, and the poll shows that there is a 1% difference of "Don't Care" vs "Will submit & Buy", that we won't have a calendar this year?  Da@#$%!

There hasn't been an official decision made yet.
We need enough people to submit (at least 12) preferably more.
and
We need enough purchases to make it worth while (not lose money)
Right now it's very close, we will let member know as soon as a decision has been made.
