CA Glue Shadow

I have a small platter that I used some CA glue to repair a small crack on sometime in the past....Some of it ran and now there is a spot there that shows up that I would rather it not show up.Anything to do about it? This isnt a big loss but I would like to do something to it if I could.

You have one of the issues that comes with CA use.  The only thing you can do now that I know of is to finish the entire piece with CA.   In the future if you plan on using CA try a coat of sanding sealer, the use the CA.

The times i have used CA to seal a crack, i just lightly turned thru the stain till it was gone.

The glue had gotten into the crack and sealed it so it was  not going to open any more and the wood around it was cleaned up by the turning.

..course, this only works if it is still on the lathe.

The appearance is due to the CA getting into the pores of the wood.  The solution is to turn/sand that wood away.  In the future seal those pores BEFORE putting on the CA.  Like AL says above, I use sanding sealer or an other finish.  Lately I have been using a water based sanding sealer that does not yellow the wood at all.

I put some CA glue on the entire  piece....my first time trying this. The stain was gone immediately but after polishing or sanding with  600 grit finish isnt my final coat .Can I now put spray wipe on poly on it or how do you apply CA evenly for a final coat ? I still have a tenon on it...It was too thin to turn away the stain. Sometimes pieces like this are learning pieces lol!

Alan Trout has a great CA finish video on YouTube. No reason to apply poly over a multilayer CA finish.

Product labels I've looked at on polyurethane products advise not to sand beyond 220.

I never believed the result of sanding wood to 220 would look as good as sanding the same wood to 600, till I did a comparison test with dewaxed shellac as the finish.  Couldn't tell which was which, so now I don't sand beyond 220.
