Jet 12-21 lathe. I now have a Powermatic 3520B as of 9/12/20.
Shellac flakes.

First is it worth the time and effort to make your own Shellac? Second, witch one of the flakes most looks like the shellac we buy in the store?

Yes, indefinite shelf life until mixed
The Zinnser you get premixed in a can is a 3 lb cut, blonde
There is no such thing as "clear" shellac. There are many names for the lightest (imparts least color) tints of flakes. Names like blonde, super blonde, platina and so on.
