Hello from Texas

Just joined the forum to broaden my knowledge of wood turning and get to know my fellow wood turners.  I've been turning for over a year.  My step father willed all of his turning equipment and tools to my son who doesn't use them much, so I've taken up the hobby and am learning more and more each project I take on.  We live out by Fulshear, TX.  Along with the woodworking equipment I have a lot of wood from my step father, but now that everyone in the neighborhood knows I'm a turner, they always call or bring interesting wood by for me to use!  Attached is a small sampling of the turnings I've made so far.

Next big project is a multi-wood layup large bowl (dark and light cedars and spalted cottonwood.  I've done two small ones, but this is bigger and thicker.  All glued up yesterday.  I have several other bowl blanks that have been prepped and need to be turned.  Two will be natural edge red oak and then I think I still have two water oak blanks to get their first turn before drying.

Welcome from the Cuero area--not too far from you.
Nice Works!
Apology for not seeing sooner, had been kind of silent on this site.
I turn a lot when I have time, prefer mesquite.
Lived in Needville back when I was a Teacher/Coach, but that was 30 ish yrs ago.

Everyday liberating nice things from ordinary chunks of wood---and I like gnarly wood, the outcome is nearly always better than the start.
