Afer a while of looking at and pricing the upgrade I decide to be happy with the belt drive.  The DVR upgrade still does not get one to the same level head as the lathe that comes from the factory with variable speed.  It seems to have better bearings and shaft layout also.  I suspect the best thing to do is to sell the belt drive and buy a different lathe.  But for me I am just gonna change the belt.
