Craftsman lathe

I was given a 12 x 40 Sears Craftsman lathe. It seems to be in good shape. It is a model 113.23851.  I need an adapter for my chuck. I counted threads and only got to 12. So far all the adapters I've seen say 16 tpi. Is anyone familiars with this brand of lathes that could send me in the right direction to buy one?

Search using your description. There is a PDF manual.

A little serching revealed that the lathe should have a 3/4 16 thread spindel, adaptors should be available at a number of places, hope this helps Smiley

Thanks for the info. Earlier today I remembered I had a thread counter thing that came with a tap and die set. It said what you said.
Thumbs Up

Yes, this should work.

If I recall correctly, a black pipe flange might work

The belt came in and I could not wait. Turned a bowl with faceplate only.

Wow. I have only ever used Harbor Freight junk to turn. My first lathe was their mini wood lathe. It wore out after three years and I was gifted an old, old Harbor Fright 14 x 40 lathe. It was made all wrong and it flexed like a body builder with any decent size piece of wood on it. It was impossible to use a forstner bit on the tailstock due to it wobbling around like a drunken teenager.  Regardless of the condition it was in I still used because I had no other to use.

Then this machine showed up. No wobble, actual 1/2 hp instead of those super weak motors Harbor Freight makes.  I can't stop it with my hand. The others I didn't hardly have to squeeze it would stop. I can pull a 1/4 inch wide strip off at a time!! No more tiny strings! It's like a completely different hobby with such a lathe! So what if it was built on 4-74. I love it.
