Lauren's eggs
Jun 18th, 2015 at 1:28pm

Here is Lauren's contribution to the Women In Turning challenge (they are all turning eggs for an auction).

Although Lauren and I often collaborate on projects, sometimes folks forget that she does woodturning as well (in addition to her fine inkwork).

She did this one on her own.
Here are several views of the 2.5" long hard maple egg, embellished with archival inks, finished with lacquer, then waxed.
Enjoy finding the snake...

And here is the second in her egg series, made of yellowheart.
This one is not for the auction, it is already sold and will be in the instant gallery of the upcoming AAW Symposium in Pittsburgh.

Are you asking about how she did the turning, or how she did the inkwork?

Awesome! Such delicate line work requires a lot of time.... and a lot more patience, but the end result is well worth the effort.
