Sanding Question.

I recently made this little coffee scoop. It came out nice. My question is do you guys have any hacks for sanding around the beading? I like the look it gives some of the smaller working but man can it be a pain in the but to sand cleanly and keep the bead without changing the shape?

There are sanding pads that are shaped to conform to standard shapes.
Google search keyword "contour sanding grips"

I would used strips of sand paper.  Someone, maybe Lyle Jamieson, suggest Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or Register folding the paper for detail work, just use the straight edge. That way you will sand only one side and the back of the paper rubbing against the other area will not hurt it.  I just did that on some wands for a friend of my daughter.

One could consider the sharpness of the spindle gouge for the finish cuts. I find that with real sharp tool no sanding is necessary in fact the sanding is rougher than the "off the tool" surface. It does take practice but worth the effort, I learned this trick from a workshop with Richard Raffin.
