Moisture Meter Won’t Come On
Jun 18th, 2022 at 8:11am

I have a cheap General moisture meter I purchased from Lowes years ago for approximately $20. It has worked for years. I used it 6 weeks ago and it worked fine. Now it won’t come on. I checked the batteries..They are good but I put a new one in it that I checked also but it still won’t come on. Anything simple to look at or just toss it but then what is good to replace it with?
Thanks in advance!!!

moisture meters are one of those you get what you paid for things.  The more money they cost the better the quality and accuracy.  I use a cheap one from harbor freight but i use a postal scale to.  The meter is used to give me a ball park for when my twice turned things are close to dry.  Then i use a scale weighing once a day until i get 3 days of not loosing weight.  weight is a much more accurate measure of how dry it is.  Meters can only measure moisture as deep as you can get the pins in.
