I formerly complained that, even though the gallery accepted my login entry, I could never complete the process and therefore could not use the gallery features.   I assumed the problem was somehow associated with the new server that had just become home for the gallery about the same time I registered with the forum. 
After checking all of the settings on my computer (several times) and failing to identify the problem outright, I began reviewing ALL of the settings on ALL of the software. 
I eventually found the problem in my security software settings (which are not at all intuitive) and have now fixed the problem.  All I needed to do was flip a switch but the computer couldn't tell me where the problem was so I had to hunt the monster down and kill it myself.  If you're having this difficulty (now or in the future) please note that the frustration can be eliminated without blaming your web browser or the management of the site.
