Turning tops

I posted this elsewhere so here it is for you folks. Stewart chatter tool, Steadler foam tip markers with a shot of Deft to hold the ink.

Thanks for posting. I've been wanting to make a few simple tops to give to (well-behaved) kids at the shows I do. The method you show is nice and quick.

Thanks for the video. I just recently tried turning a few tops myself. It makes me realize that when I do it, It.....takes ......a.......reallly ......long .......time. Grin

When doing demos I sometimes turn a top, spin it and turn another before the first one stops! gets the kids going Wink

Watched the video. Now that is cool  Cool . I have tried turning a few tops and I am not near that fast. I also keep breaking the shafts. I guess I will have to investigate a chatter tool. It added a lot to the tops finish. I use a set of colored Sharpies to color mine(Office Depot sale).

I wouldn't worry too much about it...he was probably still annoyed that I told him to wear glasses or a shield when he was turning.
