PayPal card reader on sale
May 30th, 2014 at 11:47am

CDW is selling PayPal card readers (requires an android or apple device) for $0.99. Box includes a $15 rebate

Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or Register

Both CDW and Slickdeals have been around since the late 90s (if not longer). I consider both quite reputable.

Too late, it was already sold out before you posted.  It was limited to the first 200 people.

I was about to say, why the heck would anyone buy a PayPal reader?  They are free from PayPal.  I've seen them on ebay and our Best Buy carries them for 14.99.  And they sent mine overnight for free.

Those of you using Paypal for card reading, how do you like it?  How does it compare to others?  I see in another thread people recommending Squareup.

A year ago I compared PayPal, Squareup, Intuit, and ProPay.  Square had compatibility with more devices than any of the others. Square and Intuit had the lowest rates.  Square transfers payments to your checking account on the next business day.  ProPay takes 10 days.  The others were in between.

After reading a year ago a number of very negative reviews of Square customer service I decided to use merchant services dept of my local bank.  No doubt more costly ($12/month bank fee) but I now get a discount on the cost of monthly statements because I use merchant services.  And I have person at my local bank to answer any questions.  The bank uses a service called First Data and their reader, but the program has been easy to use and very reliable.

Never had a bit of trouble with their customer service.  No monthly or annual fees, just 2.75% of each transaction.  They don't care if it is Visa, MasterCard, Discover Card, or American Express.
