I'm not sure what kind of wood this is, maybe someone could help with that. It was a orange yellow color when I turned it and the guy that gave it to me said leave it out in the sun for a little while and it would turn this nice brown color. It took just a couple of weeks to change color. The bark was rough and thick. It was very easy to work with and it carved very easy.

Sorry I can't help you with the wood species, but it's a good looking piece.

Sounds like Osage Orange (Bois D'arc).  But that is hard to turn. Makes a lot of dust.  GlennJ.

Wonder if it is Yellow Cedar,which is easy to carve .Not sure if it turns brown in the sun though. Nice work though.
