Pine cone drying

Just wondering if anyone has tried using a food dehydrator to dry pine cones. If so,  any advantage other than the oven thing?

Most, if not all, pine cones are dry when they fall to the ground.  If you pick them green just lay them in a sunny spot until the cones open.

This. We actually soak them in a Clorox solution for 24 hours and then lay them in the sun for a couple days. Once they open up the tips have almost a frosted effect from the Clorox.
