Payment terms for a bowl
Dec 4th, 2018 at 1:33pm

My payment terms for a bowl are 50% deposit to start the project and 50% prior to shipping/delivery for first-time customers.

What does everyone else do?

Thanks,

Jenn

Sounds good to me, you need to cover yourself first and foremost.

I don't turn it or build it if it is not saleable. I put the request on my list, I call the requester before I begin, I make sure we discuss the item and expectations. I call when the item is done they arrange pick time, they know full amount is due.If being shipped they forward funds I send. If they don't like or don't show as agreed It goes into inventory and price goes up.

No reason to relax those terms for repeat customers unless the bowl could easily and quickly be sold for the same price and the repeat customer is VERY dependable.  And your proposales should clearly state that the first 50% is a NON-REFUNDABLE FIRST PAYMENT, not a deposit.
