Wasp in my shop.

I bet I have killed at least 60 wasps in my shop this year. I think they are coming through the AC unit which is a window unit. We have been living here for about six years and this is the first year they have wanted to winter in my shop. I have to watch closely at everything I pick up. For the most part, they have been slow about moving around because I keep it about 62 degrees in the winter. Any of you guys have this problem?

Sorry could not resist! I have had the occasional wasp, but the last couple of years we have been getting a ton of Stink Bugs. Careful how you get rid of them... phew!

Wasps or Yellow Jackets? I would find yellow jackets in my fire wood. They get kicked out of the nest in the fall. They would warm up once inside the house and start flying around... I did get stung more than once by laying a cold one on my arm under a piece of wood. Learned to knock off the fire wood pieces before loading them onto my arm.... They do not like the lemon citrus spray at all... Neither do ants.

It's ayearly thing for me. Once it gets cold, they come into the shop. Occasionally during the cold months I'll warm it up enough for them to start flying, then I just spay them.
when it warms up for a few days, I'll wait till they start moving, then I set off the "bombs". This past year must've killed several hundred wasps.
I do the bombs several times a year---not for the wasps----just can't stand the scorpions....and the bombs kill the beetles (that like wood) that come in too.

Everyday liberating nice things from ordinary chunks of wood---and I like gnarly wood, the outcome is nearly always better than the start.

I slapped her around a little so she will not make that mistake again. You guys know I am kidding. I would never do that.

Reply #12 - Oct 25^th, 2020 at 9:44pm I used a piece of scrap 1/8" paneling and made a paddle about a foot long. It's great sport to see how far I can knock the wasp across the shop. You do have to be careful around light fixtures.
