Do any of you guys/gals make knives?
Specifically getting blanks and putting handles on them, not actually forging the steel.

I did a small knife from a Woodcraft blank, using Tulip wood.  I turned out pretty nice.  My brother in law made a leather sheath for it.  I'll work on snapping a picture of  it later, but it was just a matter of planing down the wood to the right thickness, and filing down the wood to get it to the right shape, final sanding, and finish.  I made a gun grip the same way for a small .380 out of blood wood.  That gun is long gone now, and I'm not sure if I have an image of that, but if I do, I can post that as well.

Funny this came up. My wife's favorite kitchen knife's plastic handle broke. I was thinking of trying to install a wood handle on it.

I've made quite a few, I thought I would see if anyone else shared in making them. I'll post pics if anyone is interested.

I did know a guy  some years back that made and sold knife skins. His were 'stabilized' or they had that polymer resin all through them. Better for long term use. I have been thinking about making myself a Chinese 'Mulberry' style cleaver. It is for dicing and slicing, and not chopping through bones. Most in the stores around here are the standard cleavers. Might take an old hand saw and cut it up.....

Are you talking about a Chinese vegetable cleaver? The type with a very thin blade? They have them on Amazon. I have one, they are nice.

A Nakiri? I have an inexpensive one I got on Amazon and love it, use it every day. Might be nice to have a hand made one, but my metalworking is pretty limited.

I do have more, but you get the point.
I will be turning oval shape handles for some hidden tang knives sometime soon, but I need to find the right pommels first.

Thanks for looking

Please excuse my ignorance but how do you turn an oval handle?
